It was during World War I where the daylight saving time has been created. It is this one that aims to decrease the use of energy. It was in the year 1942 that the practice was done the whole year round, especially during the WWII. It is this concept that believes that once you will not be waking up in the dark that you will also be able to save in lighting and heating by into using fuel. This is one is very much needed as to conserve energy since it is wartime. Since then though, many individuals in the US has been divided by this concept. A survey has shown that there are 45% of adults Americans that believe that daylight saving was all worth it. The rests of the 40% consider this concept as worthless. And for this very reason, that there are now many US citizens that are signing a petition to Congress to End Daylight Saving Time.


There are many advocacy groups as well that are against this kind of concept. They say that the concepts that daylight saving time is able to save energy are still not proven. They are stating that if there is really a need to save energy then it should be done all year long. And if it is not done that way then they believe that the daylight saving time should be abolished.


One of the disadvantages of DST is that it increases the use of gasoline. It is this one that the petroleum industry has found out since the 1930's. this is due to the fact that there will be more evening activities and this will require vehicle use since it will increase with extra daylight. Another thing with changing the clock is that it also causes air travel synchronization headaches. This can sometimes lead to travel delays and lost revenues. The changing of the clock also can cause a variety of health issues. Since daylight savings will be changing one's time zone then it will create a jet lag feeling and an individual will just feel disoriented. Daylight saving is also the one that can cause disruption in your sleep, metabolism, mood, stress levels, and other bodily rhythms. Many experts believe that once you will have this condition then you will need to have three weeks of recovery. Many experts also found out that DST is as the one that can cause an increase in the incidence of heart attacks, work-related injuries, automobile accidents and a higher rate of suicide. DST is also the one that can affect your Circadian Rhythms which can ultimately disrupt your sleeping pattern.
